Some extra info you might want:
Planning your visit to Minneapolis: Housing, Transportation, the State Fair and More
HUGE Theater is located at 3037 Lyndale Ave S 55408, in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood of Minneapolis. There are a lot of great restaurants within easy walking distance of the theater, and plenty of parking should you have a car during your trip.
Housing
Sadly, there are no hotels in the same neighborhood as the theater. You can find hotels fairly inexpensively on Priceline.com by selecting the downtown zone. All the downtown hotels listed on Priceline, are solid choices — all are 3 stars or above — and Minneapolis’ downtown tends to be lively and pedestrian friendly.
Often, Minneapolis improvisers can host out of town visitors, which can mean anything from guest rooms, couches or floor space for you to sleep on. Let us know when you register if this is an option you’d like to pursue.
Transportation: Bus, Rail, Bike, Cabs/Cars, Car Shares
There’s a bus stop right outside HUGE Theater’s door, and it is simple to take a Metro Transit #4 bus to and from downtown Minneapolis. The #4 bus runs almost 24 hours a day. (https://www.metrotransit.org or Google Maps)
There are cabs available for about $8 between downtown and HUGE, as well as Uber and Lyft service options. Car2Go is also available in the Twin Cities.
Nice Ride, www.niceridemn.org, is a bike share service in Minneapolis-Saint Paul that has daily and hourly bike rentals. There are bike stations all over the city, including near HUGE and sites of interest.
Plus, there are usually friendly local improvisers happy to help out with transportation.
Airport Transfer
The Minneapolis/St. Paul airport (MSP) is approximately 10 miles southeast of HUGE Theater. It’s a 20-30 minute drive or a 45-60 minute train/bus ride.
If you let us know your arrival time, we are happy to find someone to meet you at the airport.
Additionally, you can take the light rail directly to or from the airport to the Lake St E & Lake St – Midtown Station and connect to the Metro Transit bus #21. The #21 bus is about a 20 minute ride to Lake Street and Lyndale, one block north of HUGE.
Extra Things to See If You Have Time
Minnesota State Fair (www.mnstatefair.org) is 10 days of exhibits, livestock, concerts, and literally thousands of different kinds of fair food (most fried and/or on a stick) that is nearly impossible to explain, but should probably be experienced at least once. To make your dreams come true, we have scheduled our second summer intensive session to overlap with this year’s state fair.
A few things within walking or biking distance of HUGE
The Minneapolis Institute of Art is a short bike or bus ride away from HUGE and features a spectacular collection. Entry is by suggested donation, and the MIA has a small cafe with great coffee. A lovely place to get inspired.
The Walker Sculpture Garden Beautiful, mostly free, and within biking distance of HUGE, the Walker Art Center’s Sculpture Garden is a great place to spend an afternoon. In the summer there is artist-designed mini golf and hotdog stand outside, and an air conditioned cafe and beautiful modern art inside.
Uptown/Majors & Quinn Books Located less than a mile from HUGE in a neighborhood with a mixture of restaurants, chain stores like Apple and American Apparel, and local boutiques, Majors & Quinn is one of the great independently owned bookstores.
